Although the state Of Connecticut has a thriving Creative Economy, little to none of those jobs and economic advantages are offered in Black & Brown and low income communities across our state. $9.3Billion is generated annually in Ct by the creative economy but very little money is going back into the community to create resources for young aspiring black and brown creatives and emerging artists. The Breed Academy was created to expose young emerging artists, particularly black and brown artists in underinvested communities, to the music and Entertainment industry . In a community that is too often corrupted by violence and drugs, we developed a career training and workforce program that will help to impact our students in transformational ways.
At the Breed Academy, we provide Access to resources, hands on training, workforce placement and arts and educational opportunities needed to be competitive in the music and entertainment industry.
Our goal is to nurture the dream and provide support for black and brown emerging artists and others from low income communities that are battling circumstances in life that often deter them from success without giving them an equitable chance to be competitive within society. Giving back to our community is at the heart of everything we have worked so hard to accomplish. There are many factors that set the Breed Academy apart from other arts educational programs. The Breed academy doesn't just help young people to build the skills that they need to be competitive in today’s mainstream society but also educates them on the history of music, art & culture, helping them to embrace their identities and to gain a further understanding of who they are collectively. The Breed Academy educates and arms the next generation of creatives with the tools, awareness and knowledge they will need to be successful leaders in competitive career markets and to find their voice in the world.
